Strong demand for Eastern European Wines from International Wine Importers

Written on 24-08-2015 by Anthony Swift, Italy

Learn what is the Workshop Buyer meets Cellar in Italy all about

Articles on Eastern European boutique wines are getting more and more abundant these days but getting to taste a range of them in once place over a couple of days is a tall task for many wine importers from key international markets.

Save the large trade fairs for medium to large producers, there isn’t much around to discover small boutique wine producers.

Wine Pleasures has been organizing a Workshop event in Italy for boutique wine producers to meet with quality buyers from around the world for 4 years now and over that time wine importers have consistently and constantly suggested that we extend the invitation to neighbouring and nearby wine producing countries to also participate.

One importer told us “there just aren’t any events that bring together wines from Eastern Europe in one place” and another reported “I have my Italian portfolio pretty much wrapped but seeing the participation of Wines of the Balkans at the event makes it very tempting to attend”. “We are already happy with our Italian producers but this plus about Eastern European countries makes it more interesting for me”

In light of this response we have we taken the decision to open up the Workshop event to accept registrations from boutique wine producers from the following countries:

Austria - Albania - Bulgaria - Croatia - Bosnia - Georgia - Greece - Hungary - Macedonia - Moldova - Montenegro - Romania - Serbia - Slovenia - Turkey

So what is the Workshop Buyer meets Cellar in Italy all about?

Over two days producers schedule (prior to the event) private one to one meetings with wine importers looking to add quality boutique wines (min 2 Euros ex cellar) to their portfolios. Meetings are reinforced at lunches and dinners when both buyers and “cellars” can try wines several times with food in an informal social setting.

To date wine importers are travelling specifically to the event and at own expense from diverse markets such as China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Norway, United Kingdom, Vietnam,  and of course many from the USA!

For each country there are just two places and the early bird discount rate of 995 Euros is valid until 31 August 2015.
